The Soils
From Places to the work
Collecting soil is an integral part of PANGEA’s artistic process. Each
place is chosen for its intensity and resonance. The soil is collected
directly and preserved until it enters the work. Each fragment carries
the origin of the place it comes from: a matter that preserves memories,
imprints and stratifications. Through the painterly gesture, the soil
enters the work and becomes part of a new geography. Every place leaves
an imprint.

Where soils and sands were collected from protected areas, they were gathered in minimal quantities as a symbolic link to their place of origin. They were collected with respect for the environment and without disturbing its natural balance.
